The Importance of Mental Health and World Mental Health Day

Mental health is such an important topic, yet we often don’t give it the attention it deserves. When something hurts us physically, we don’t hesitate to run to the doctor. But when it comes to our mind, it still seems like a "taboo" that we find hard to talk about, or worse, we feel ashamed.

In my case, I’ve been seeing my psychologist for years, and honestly, it has helped me so much. I’ve been struggling with anxiety for a long time, mostly due to various health problems I’ve had, and I’m also going through a grief process, which has made everything even harder. Anxiety can be overwhelming, but thanks to the support I receive in therapy, I’ve been learning to manage it better.

For me, mental health is just as, or even more important, than physical health. When both fail, it’s incredibly hard to find the strength to move forward. I’ve learned that taking care of your mind is just as essential as taking care of your body, and if we don’t give it the importance it deserves, we can feel trapped.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, I want to take the opportunity to send a big hug to anyone going through a tough time. I know how hard it can be, but I also know that seeking help makes a huge difference. You don’t have to go through this alone. In the end, you can get through it, but the path is much easier if you have someone by your side.

If you're going through something similar, I encourage you to take the step. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help, and believe me, it can change your life.
